Letter from Wrinkles and family

Kelli Windebank, 11/03/2010

Hi there Kelli,

I wanted to give you an update on how Wrinkles is doing...

When we first brought him home after he had searched the house and been shown around he went to bed! After a long time asleep i took him out for his first walk, we kept it short but it was good fun! He walked close to me on the lead.
Since then he has enjoyed going to the stables, and also out on very long walks with Karen and her 3 greyhounds to. Karen has been great, shes lent me a lunge line (along with a whole list of bits!!), with a harness also for Wrinkes so he can join in with the games as much as possible, untill he can be let off his lead.
Wrinkles is my new shadow, he follows me everywhere! He loves the kids who are following him everywhere, the kids (esp Ollie age 2 and a half) throws a total tantrum when i take Wrinkles for his walk as he doesnt want him to go!! The last 2 days the kids Wrinkles and i have all been walking together as bens at work untill Sunday morning. They all really enjoy it however, Wrinkles will not leave the side of the buggie as he wants to walk with them to!

Wrinkles is so loyal already and forms tight bonds quickley. He has made such a huge difference to me espcially, getting me out walking with and without the kids!! As we speak his has taken prime location on my rug in front of my fire palce! (he knows now that when the kids have gone to bed thats his spot aswell as the sofa!!)

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you for all your help, and also to karen you have both been amazing, and im sure you'll both continue to be.

love from,
Jenni, Ben, Ollie & Shaun xxx

Robbie

Getting Robbie was the best thing I could have done for my family, the children adore him, as he does them. He joins in their games and has become a central part of their lives and affections. He is so laid back and calm around them, walking him is a dream and he's becoming well known in our area and at my daughters' schools - for all the right reasons!

Robbie has befriended my mother's dog, another rescue dog, and they have bonded far better than we would have anticipated, in fact they make a formidable team.

I would urge any family considering rescuing a dog to consider a greyhound as our experience has been nothing but positive!

First Year Anniversary

Lucille Cavadino, Lancashire, 22/02/2010

Who knew I had a hound shaped whole in my life? It seems so obvious now. This weekend marks 12 months since Charlie moved in; time has really flown by. Although he has his idiosyncrasies (!) he is a total joy to have around. He is loads of fun, cheeky playful and very nosey!

My shadow is hound shaped as he is constanly at my side; a wonderful companion. We have had some great adventures; it has been great to share in all his first time experiences like playing in the snow, paddling in the sea and watching him work out what a banana is and that they are yummy. He continues to live happily along side the cats although they aren't sure about him joining in their games but he does try!

I just wanted to make a point of saying thank you so much for finding me Charlie - he has taught me a lot.

Smooch and Lady La La (aka Lady and the Tramp - a love story)

Lady is like a little breath of fresh air. She is just a little bundle of boney joy. Smooch has finally learnt not to tread on her little feet or tail while she is sleeping as this is a telling off that is worse than one from me! She is no longer in a muzzle in the house because she just doesnt need it, she doesnt chase Tabby cat but has been known to gobble up all her food whenever possible. Well you can't blame a girl for trying!!

Smooch is as happy as I have known him in a very long time and really looks out for his little sister in and out of the house. They play together nicely with toys and just generally run about like hooligans when we are out. Her recall is great when there are no distractions because she follows Smooch, so if you call him she will follow. Her tail never stops wagging, she loves being brushed and pampered and I managed to clip her toe nails too as a couple were a bit long, she even likes having her teeth brushed as long as Smooch has his done at the same time, then they spend ten minutes licking all the toothpaste off each other, tooooooooo funny.

Maybe 4 years of difficult dogs has jaded my memory, or maybe she is just the best little thing to come through our front door but she is just wonderful and it feels like she has been here forever already, either way , we owe it all to you!!!

Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts and paws. Karen, Lauren, Smooch, La La and Tabby xxxxxxxxx

p.s when she wakes up and shakes her head her tongue slips out the side of her mouth apart from it being probably the funniest thing I HAVE EVER SEEN!! is this normal?x

An update on Nicole

Nicole has started to settle in and show her true personality. She is quite intelligent, very social able and can be a little stubborn. She likes to stay in bed in the morning, has little interest in going out when it is pouring with rain, but does not want to come home when its sunny. She has now started to play with other dogs and will chase the local rabbits, squirrels and birds, but never with much intent to catch them.

Nicole was off the lead in a month, she never goes too far and will recall or come looking for you. She is very affectionate and will press her body against your leg whenever she wants a cuddle. Her favourite thing is to get on the bed in the morning when the alarm clock has sounded for a stroke, cuddle and snooze.

Nicole loves to walk, especially when sunny. Her favourite place is in the woods where she can smell and listen to all the sounds going on around her.

People adore her and she likes to play on this and goes up for a stroke (or food if they have a spare treat on them!)

It has only been five months since we adopted Nicole and we are still seeing new things with her. It has taken a while for her to get used to the TV and vacuum cleaner, which she still runs away from.

Nicole is a joy to have around and we are very lucky to have her.
