Our wish list

This section is designed to address the charity's ongoing need for items we would be very grateful to receive and which will help us carry out valuable work to rescue and support greyhounds and lurchers.

If you think you can help, simply send us an email saying what type of item or help you are able to offer. Your email will be forwarded to the appropriate contact, who will be in touch with you as soon as they can.

It woud be very helpful if you can include a telephone contact (preferably landline) number in your email response. Many thanks!

Help Needed

Event Co-ordinator for West Somerset

GRWE West Somerset needs you!

We are keen to find an Events Co-ordinator to organise events in the Taunton, Minehead and general West Somerset area.

Organising events means that GRWE is able to increase its presence in the area, as well as raising much needed funds and awareness of our work. Currently we are under-represented in the West Somerset area, and so we would like to find a keen and enthusiastic person to organise events locally. We'd like to set up some street collections in the local area, as well as participating in local shows and awareness events.

We will be on hand to help with guidance and support to help the right person settle in.

We are looking for a volunteer who is highly motivated and extremely organised, and with the necessary skills to develop a team in the area to help promote our work.

This is of course a voluntary role, but you will be handsomely rewarded by the joy of seeing many hounds re-homed as a result of your work.

Please get in touch if you can help on enquiries@grwe.com or 07000 785092 and ask for Jan (L)

Display a Homing Poster!

Can you help us find homes for our hounds?

If you are able to help GRWE promote greyhounds and lurchers for homing by displaying a homing poster in your area, please contact us via enquiries@grwe.com to request a poster.

Please ensure you provide your full name and address as well as the number of posters that you would like to be sent. Thank You!

Volunteers

Volunteer with GRWE and make a real difference!

GRWE is a registered charity and the largest independent greyhound and lurcher rescue organisation in the UK. We find caring, permanent homes for over 800 greyhounds and lurchers each year. However, we could not do this without the support of our valued volunteers, all of whom play a central role in our rescue and rehoming work by donating their time, skills and energy to support the charity.

We currently have a number of voluntary roles throughout the UK, with lots of opportunities to build new skills, meet new people and gain valuable experience, while volunteering with a national animal welfare charity. Roles range from home checker to press officer, cat tester to trustee!

Please take a look at our volunteering page and, if you think you have relevant experience and time to dedicate to one of these roles please get in touch, we would love to hear from you because as a GRWE volunteer, you really will be making a difference!

Events in Central Somerset

We are looking for a volunteer to organise and run our street and store collections in the central Somerset area.

This would involve booking our GRWE collections and obtaining a permit from the relevant councils

Liaising with and booking collecting days at various stores throughout the region

Looking after and storing the relevant equipment needed for these events, display boards, collecting tins etc.

Maintaining good contacts with local volunteers and developing a team of willing helpers and their dogs who will greet the public and promote GRWE.

Do you have good organisational skills, and are a natural team leader? Do you love greyhounds and want to promote them as suitable pets? Could you do all of this for no pay yet gain the most marvellous job satisfaction from knowing you are helping greyhounds?

Do you live within the Somerset area?...........

If so, please get in touch via enquiries@grwe.com
