If you think you can help, simply send us an email stating what type of help you are able to offer and any relevant previous experience you may have. Your email will be forwarded to the appropriate contact, who will be in touch with you.

Fabrics and trim needed
We have found some willing helpers to make some santa suits for our greyhounds to wear for Christmas fundraising................so now we need to find some fabrics!
We are looking for some red fleecy fabric, and some white fur trim to be made into super santa outfits......can anyone help?
* The Santa suits proved HUGELY successful for our Christmas fundraising projects ! Having dogs dressed up in snuggly santa suits kept them warm and really drew in the crowds, so thanks to everyone who helped with this project.
Please keep your eyes peeled now in the sales for red fleecy fabric and trim so that we can make up more suits for 2009 fundraising ~ yes we are that organised! *
Events Co-ordinator
We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic member to join our fundraising team within the Herts and Beds area.
Are you able to help us by booking and organising events, being responsible for equipment, and organising volunteers?
Are you a team player, have good organisational skills and are you keen to promote greyhounds as pets and the work of GRWE within the Chiltern area? If so, we would like to hear from you.
This is a volunteer position, but you will recieve lots of support from within the GRWE local team, and a huge amount of satisfaction from knowing you are helping needy hounds to find homes...............

Mailing team
Do you live in the Bath and North East Somerset Area and do you have a few hours to spare occassionally?
GRWE'S Registered Office is in Radstock, and this is where all our mailings to supporters are done from.
At certain times of the year we need lots of volunteers to come to the Office to assist with envelope stuffing prior to mailing. We are compiling a list of people who are willing to help with this task.......if you can help then please let us know by emailing enquiries@grwe.co.uk. and we will add your name to the list.
Please be aware that there is a steep metal staircase up to the office and so access is limited.
Cat Testing in Cheshire...
Do you have a dog-friendly cat and live within a 10-15 mile radius of Crewe-Nantwich?
We identify a number of dogs each month who show potential to be cat-trainable and always have a waiting list for homes with cats that would like a greyhound to join the family as well. To ensure the success of these placements, those greyhounds that look to be suitable go through a structured cat-testing process and we are looking for volunteer cats (and owners!) to help us do this. The process is carried out in a safe and considerate manner for both parties and always with the Regional Homing Officer so no experience is required. If your cat doesn’t mind, or enjoys the company of dogs, we would love to hear from you.

Helpline Operator required
GRWE runs a telephone helpline for all charity related calls. This facility is run by a team of volunteers who share the workload by taking a day each on the phone.
A vacancy has become free on the helpline and we are looking for a volunteer to staff the phone on a Saturday.
This is a very important aspect of GRWE'S work as the helpline is the first point of contact for many people making an approach to the Charity.
Good interpersonal skills are a must, as is the ability to collate accurate information and work under pressure at times. A landline telephone number, access to email and the internet are also essential. Training will be given to the successful applicant.

Publicity Officer for Cheshire and surrounding are
The ‘Cheshire’ Team cover a very broad geographical area comprising Staffordshire, Shropshire, North Wales, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and of course Cheshire itself. We are actively looking for a Publicity Officer to help raise the profile of the Charity in this area through promotion of our homing activities and awareness / fundraising events. The region has a busy events schedule and already attends some of the major Shows in the area. In conjunction with volunteer recruitment, we are looking to develop this over the next 12-18 months to ensure good coverage of the whole of our geographical area.
The Publicity Officer will work closely with the Regional Homing Officer and Events Co-ordinator to develop a targeted promotion and publicity plan. Key tasks will include establishing contacts with a network of local media organisations, arranging appropriate news articles and press coverage, building links with local businesses such as vets and pet stores and keeping the volunteer team up to date and involved with publicity activities.
The role can be done at a distance, with willingness to travel for some meetings if required. Some experience would be preferred but an interest in greyhounds, sense of humour and bit of free time are by far the most important criteria!

Its getting colder and our hounds in the Herts/Bedfordshire kennels would really appreciate any spare Duvets and Blankets that you might be may be able to send in.

Coats Needed...
We badly need some greyhound coats to keep our dogs warm and snug! Waterproof ones are best of course, but we are grateful for any coats which you might be able to donate. We can also make use of collars, leads, and any muzzles which you might not need, so please take any items along to any of our GRWE events, or contact enquiries@grwe.com to find out the best way of getting them to us.
Agility Equipment
The Somerset kennels are looking for a kind benefactor to donate some agility equipment! We would love our dogs to have some extra stimulation whilst in kennels waiting for their forever homes to come along, so if someone has some agility equipment, which they no longer want, we would be delighted to receive it. Home checkers needed in Somerset in the following areas ~ Chew Valley/Wrington area, Radstock area, Bridgwater, Minehead and the Quantocks, Glastonbury, Langport - Somerton area.
We are also in need of home checkers in the Gloucester/ Hereford and Worcester areas.

Display Board Photographs and Stories...
We are in the process of updating our display board material and would love to hear from you if you have some photographs of your rescued hound, which you would like us to use. Please include a rescue story to accompany the pictures so that you can tell the world how you changed your dogs life, and possibly how he or she has changed your life too! Please forward your submissions to the address below. You can either send original photographs (which will be returned to you, please include a self addressed SAE) or you can scan the images and send them on a CD. Either way be sure to include your articles with the photographs. Transport Assistance Wanted...
We need to develop a transport network between South Devon (Newton Abbot)/Somerset and Hereford (Ledbury) kennels to allow us to move dogs between the kennels. Help with transport is needed on a regular basis to run between our kennels in Hereford and Gordano services on the M5 near Bristol. A GRWE van is available for use on these trips. This is a regular route for us, so extra pairs of hands are needed to share the load! If you can help with a full trip, or part of a trip, please let us know by email: enquiries@grwe.com. Mileage expenses will be paid.
Raising Awareness in ALL Areas...
To assist us in getting the word about GRWE's work spread as far and wide as possible, in an effort to find homes for our dogs, we need people in ALL geographical areas, to put up posters in Pet Shops, Veterinary Surgeries and elsewhere.
