Legacy Giving

Giving the gift of life to abused and abandoned greyhounds.

How You Can Help

By remembering Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE) in your will, you can help ensure that our valuable work lives on.

Legacies are vital to GRWE as they provide a platform which allows us to plan ahead while still maintaining our everyday operations.  We receive no government funding, are totally independent of the racing industry and rely solely on donations, including legacies, to fund our work.

In recent years we have benefited from a number of legacies and, large or small, they all have one thing in common – they have enabled us to save the lives of many more greyhounds.

If you haven’t done so already, please consider remembering GRWE in your will.

Making a Will

We recommend that you seek independent, professional legal advice on writing a will and the associated tax benefits.  Once you have remembered your loved ones, the following wording should be included in your will:

‘I give x% of the residue of my estate / the sum of £____ (whichever applies) to Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE), charity number 1131399, for its general purposes.  I further direct that the receipt of the person who professes to be the Treasurer or other proper officer of GRWE shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.’

If you are giving a fixed sum, you may wish to index-link it so that its value at the time of writing is maintained.

Changing an Existing Will

Altering your existing will to include GRWE is easy to do.  We recommend that you contact the person who helped you with the original will and advise that you are adding a codicil.

Get in Touch

Once you have remembered GRWE in your will, please tell us!  It allows us to thank you and keep you updated on our work.  It also enables us to plan for our long-term future.

Why Write a Will?

UK charities as a whole receive £1.5 billion a year in legacy income.  However, this income could be even higher as less than half of all people make a will and, of these, only 13% include a charitable bequest.

Although we do not rely on legacies, they are an extremely important source of income for us. Please do consider supporting our work in this way.

Thank You!
