Homing enquiry

To send us an enquiry about rehoming one or more of our dogs, please use the Homing Enquiry form below to tell us a bit about yourself and any key details about your home situation, e.g. any children, other pets, flat or house etc. Then simply add your details and hit 'Send'.

A member of the GRWE rehoming team will contact you to discuss your enquiry. Please be patient and remember that we are all volunteers. Thank you!

The dogs shown here are a selection of the many dogs in our care at any one time across England & Wales. The dogs available for rehoming change on a daily basis and, while we try to keep our website as up to date as possible, the specific dogs shown may already have found their new home.

Please note that our helpline operators are not able to provide more information about individual dogs or where they are kennelled but will act as a referral service, forwarding your details to the relevant rehoming officer who will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

We assess all our dogs carefully and aim to give as much information about them as we can. Please give a thought to offering a home to a boy dog, especially the black ones - they are just as wonderful and trainable as the girls!

Please may we also request that when enquiring about a dog, you provide us with a landline number whenever possible to help reduce uneccesary strain on the charity's resources. Thank you in advance.

Cassie

Cassie
Cassie

A beautiful white and brindle girl with a very friendly nature. At just 21 months old, Cassie is still only a youngster, she is a happy and playful little girl and very affectionate.

Cassie is currently living in a foster home along with two other dogs, another Greyhound and a crossbreed. Her foster family simply do not have a bad word to say about her.

Cassie is clean in the house, adores company, be it hound or human, and is well behaved on the lead. Because of her young age, Cassie would be best suited to a home where someone is around most of the time.

This wonderful little girl has so much to offer the right home. Please don't miss this oppotunity, she really is a little gem and she's just waiting for your call.

Harrison has just celebrated his 6th birthday and is now out of kennels and greatly enjoying the comforts of his foster home. He settled into home life very easily and is happily living alongside 2 other greyhounds and a cross breed dog.

Harrison is a very happy chappy and is not yet ready to enter his pipe and slippers stage so is looking for a home where he will be included in things. He has proved he can happily live with other dogs, equally he would be happy as an only dog - he is just a happy dog!

He will be a fantastic, loyal and affectionate companion.

Gracie IN FOSTER CAT FRIENDLY!

Gracie IN FOSTER CAT FRIENDLY!
Gracie IN FOSTER CAT FRIENDLY!
Gracie IN FOSTER CAT FRIENDLY!

Well would you look at ME!

I am a young lurcher, probably a Saluki X Whippet and I am quite the prettiest little thing (although I must admit I didn't smell very pretty when I first arrived!)

I am approximately 10 months old, about 23" at the shoulder and came over from Ireland to find fame and fortune in this new land (a nice sofa and food would be a GREAT start). I was still very thin when I arrived but I am putting on weight and will soon be ready for a nice new home. It is fair to say that I am not quite 'house' proofed yet but I am currently in foster and am learning about what life is like in a home and doing very well so far.

Being a Saluki X Whippet pup, I am pretty active and I need lots to stimluate my body and mind, otherwise I may have to find things to occupy myself with :) I will also need training classes to help me learn about coming back when called etc.

I am in foster with another lurcher girl and a cat and we all get along great. I am 'in training' with the cat and so far, so good.

All being well I will be very ready for my new home very soon and can't wait to get out and about to meet lots of new dogs and humans - all of which I love!!

Ruby- in foster & housetrained

Ruby- in foster & housetrained
Ruby- in foster & housetrained
Ruby- in foster & housetrained

What a stunning looking young lady Ruby is and only 4 years old.

Ruby was gifted to us by her trainer because she was set upon by another dog during a race and, as a result, she has lost her confidence to compete. This does mean that Ruby does not like being rushed at or crowded by "over friendly" dogs when out and about. She is lucky enough to be living in a foster home at the moment with 2 other dogs where she is well behaved and clean and walks beautifully on the lead.

She is looking for a home as an only dog or perhaps with another greyhound who is happy to let Ruby “wear the trousers” – like lots of very beautiful women, she knows it and knows how to tug on your heart strings with just one look.

She is positively thriving in her foster home and is ready to move onto her forever home. She has found it upsetting leaving the safety of her racing kennels but is desperate to be loved and be part of someone’s life. Are you prepared to give her that home where she can have a chance to really settle into life as a much loved pet greyhound? An experienced home that would be happy to set a few boundaries so she doesn’t take advantage whilst she is learning her position in the home would be ideal.

Her foster mum says "She is a joy to be around – affectionate, sweet and, quite frankly, irresistible. She will do anything I ask of her and more besides - a total star".

Oh and she asked me to say that she loves pilchards, sardines and cooked veg please, but not raw carrot – yuk !

**UPDATE**
Amazing what a little time and patience can do. Ruby has learnt that other dogs being up close and personal is ok really - can you spot her? - she is in there honestly - I promise !!!

Donal

Donal
Donal

This smart looking chap has had a lucky escape as he was due to be put to sleep before we took him in.

Not making it as a racer, Donal had become a little overweight and unfit but he is now shaping up and cutting a very fine figure indeed.

He has just turned 4 years old and is a lovable, solid boy who is getting used to walking on a lead and meeting other dogs.

He seems to be taking everything in his stride and will make a great addition to any family.

Jessie

Jessie
Jessie
Jessie

Meet Jessie. She is a lovely little 1 year old lurcher.

Jessie has had rather an unsettled past, and was handed into us from a very chaotic home where there were absolutley no boundries for her.

She is now in a stable and calm foster home where she is doing brilliantly. She is living with 2 other dogs; she loves to play and is fine around food and toys and is very willing to share! Jessie is also very intellegent and picks things up very quickly; a really fast learner. She would excel at doing something stimulating like agility or obedience.

When she came in she had not been walked much on the lead, but she is coming on well and is always enthusiastic to say hello to any doggy friends she meets!

We think Jessie would be better with another dog to give her confidence. She loves to play but is also happy to curl up and sleep. Although she is fine with children (and has been around her foster dad's neice and nephew who are both toddlers), it would be better if she was not placed with very young ones, as she could find their unpredictability a bit frightening. She is a little nervous when she first meets you but sooon comes round. She is very affectionate, loves a cuddle and just needs stablity and boundries and with that you will be rewarded with a gorgeous friendly girl, who will be great fun to own.

GEENA

GEENA
GEENA
GEENA

Geena has a sad tale to tell. She had been living happily for a number of years in a home with her greyhound "brothers" when her mum had a life changing accident which meant that Geena and her brothers had to be parted from each other and their mum in the hope of finding a new home.

Geena has tried her best to be brave and keep cheerful in the hope that someone will fall in love with her happy smiley face. Don't be fooled by the grey - she is only 6 and has plenty of life and energy in her. Which one of us can say that we look on the outside how we feel on the inside? Well, there you go then! We can't all look ageless you know :-)

She walks brilliantly on the lead and travels like a dream in the car. She is well behaved and more than happy to settle quietly down for a snooze once she has been for her walk. In fact, she's really no trouble. She's not totally at her best around small dogs but is great with bigger dogs. If you were ok with that situation she would make the most loving, easy going companion you could ask for.

Please help Geena get back the home life and love that she is so used to and misses so much.

Henry

Henry
Henry
Henry

Hello. My name is Henry and my foster mum says that as much as she loves me, I'm ready to fly the nest and find a forever home of my own, so she can take in another "silly sausage" like me.

Anyway, as you can see I'm a very handsome chap and I'm not particularly big for a boy dog. Just CCS (comfortable cuddle size.) And that's what I like best, cuddles and company. I'm lodging with a very noisy, busy, Cocker Spaniel girl, two Lurcher girls and another Greyhound boy, who can be quite full of himself and as he's bigger than me I just keep out of the way when he's charging around.

I had a bit of a "funny tummy" when I came in but I've been checked out by the vet and there's nothing wrong, I'm just a bit sensitive to changes and need a little bit of time and lots of tlc to make me feel loved and wanted. I would quite like to live with someone who is around most of the time as I've never been on my own. In fact it would be rather nice if there's another doggy chum around and I don't care if it's a smaller doggy friend either.

I've seen my foster mum's chickens and sheep and I'm not bothered, provided there is a fence between us of course. I'm not keen on cats though and I don't think I would like to have young children around me all the time as they would probably be a bit too noisy for a sensitive soul like me. Visiting children would be acceptable.

I just want a nice quiet home with the opportunity to walk with my mum/dad and give and receive lots of love and cuddles. Not too much to ask for a chap who has just celebrated his 4th birthday is it?

Lauren

Lauren
Lauren

Hello, my name is Lauren and like all my chums I'm looking for a nice comfy bed and loving home.
I'm a 6 year old girlie and I retired from racing a while ago but I've had to wait a long time before getting to GRWE and my chance of a home of my own.

I'm quite playful and I'm getting used to other “creatures” out in the big wide world. I went to a big doggy show last weekend and my oh my, what an amazing number of dogs I saw. Big, small, smooth, fluffy, barky. But I'm told I behaved impeccably and took it all in my stride. Boy, I was glad to get back to my bed in kennels for a good snooze after all that work with GRWE.

But I would really love to have some “humans” and a home of my own to love me and fuss me. I don't mind if there's another doggy companion but I wouldn't be good at sharing with a cat I'm afraid.

Riley the Smiley!

Riley the Smiley!
Riley the Smiley!
Riley the Smiley!

Well I will be with time.........

I am only about 2 years old but act much more like a very young lad. I am a white and tan broken coated Deerhound X, with very, very long legs! Life hasn't been to kind to me and I am really quite a timid lad but there isn't an ounce of malice in me. I wag my tail a lot but it is a very appeasing wag, without any confidence and the people at GRWE are desperate to see it wag with joy.

I gain confidence from being around a nice lady human and will hide behind them if I am uncertain of something. I need to be in a home with some confident, calm and sensible people that will help me deal with being out in the big world. Once I am out on my lead, I am much more settled and I am getting better every day and will come for some gentle cuddles now.

I am a little too keen on furries to live with cats and small children would be too much for me but older, sensible children that can teach me about having fun would be great. An older confident male or female dog would also be great, as I am good with other dogs and could do with a nice girlfriend (or boyfriend) to help me learn all about how great life can be.

I am a really, really gorgeous lad and I need a really loving, gentle home. Can you help?

Holly

Holly
Holly
Holly

Holly is six-years-old, bubbly, bright and affectionate, very fond of her food (when you give her nice things), and the proud owner of one of the wiggly-waggliest tails in the world!

Sadly Holly was born profoundly deaf, but she has picked up hand-signals very quickly and we will happily work with her new family to teach them how to communicate with her (Holly is very good at pre-empting what you need her to do).

We’re doing a lot of work to help Holly build up her trust with people again, she’s clearly had a rocky path to this point, but her foster Mum is doing a wonderful job with her. She can be quite sensitive to being touched, particularly if she has an injury so we will need her new home to be mindful of this and help her along.

In the right home, Holly would probably be better as an only dog (she’s on her own in foster and doing well), although she will only be able to be left for a maximum of a couple of hours at a time and will need ongoing support to manage her separation anxiety.

She has previously lived with another dog and that may also be an option for the future although Holly would perhaps be more comfortable if that dog wasn’t a sighthound and any dog would be carefully assessed by the homing team to make sure they would settle together. Holly would need a calm, fairly independent dog that will give her space and be understanding if she feels unsettled.

Holly has lived with cats and we think she would be fine to do so again in future. Unfortunately we don’t think Holly can live with children, as her deafness makes her too easily startled.

Holly is now starting to play with toys, loves pottering about and snoozing in the garden with her foster Mummy and I suspect, if I could ask her what her ideal new home would be, she’d tell me ‘a retired couple, with lots of time to care for me, who have a bit of experience to help me through my issues, won’t leave me for long on my own and will cook Aunty Lisa’s special sticky dog chicken & rice recipe as required!’ :-)

At just over two years old she didn’t make the grade as a racer so was given up by her trainer. She is a very strong girl and is a little nervous of the world around her at the moment but is learning fast.

Glorious is good with other dogs that she meets but would not be able to live with cats.

Tony

Tony
Tony
Tony

We think Tony is Grrrrrrrreat (only those over the age of 35 will understand that!)

He is 4 years old and finished his racing career in October. Tony's owner handed him over to rescue to find a new home for him.

Tony is quite a big lad and has a big heart to match his stature. He is a lovely friendly lad, who enjoys his walks in the countryside with the dog walkers. Whilst we have had Tony with us we have noticed that he does like his own space though. He is fine walking alongside other dogs, but in smaller more confined spaces, like a car for example, he doesn't like the close proximity of other dogs, and will grizzle at them to let them know that!

Tony can't go to a home with cats, and will need careful introductions to small dogs as so far in his life he's only ever met greyhounds.

This lad is a super boy, who will make a really wonderful, faithful companion. Please don't overlook just because he is big, black and likes his own space - he is just lovely - just look at that face!

5/4/10

Tony is settling down and enjoying life more now. He is finding out that life outside of racing kennels isn't maybe as scary as he thought. Tony is a real people dog, and really enjoys some one to one attention.

Tony enjoyed his trip out to the local park over the Easter weekend, and stopped for a cup of tea in the cafe there - whilst his Auntie Fliss was drinking tea, Tony took the opportunity to lap up as many cuddles as he possibly could! We think he enjoyed himself judging by the photos!

Theo

Hello my name is Theo, and I am absolutely gorgeous and a VERY handsome boy. You have only got to look at my photos and I am sure you will agree with me.

I am 6 years old and currently living in a foster home where I have been for quite a long time now, and although I am happy (my foster mum is fab), I would LOVE a home to call my own.

There is really nothing wrong with me although but I am quite big, oh and I am a boy, and for some reason that can put people off. I am not sure why though, because I am so gentle and affectionate and don't take up much space.

My past is now well behind me and my foster mum has done a fantastic job helping me to find my way again, and I am more than ready to snuggle down with you on a sofa!

I could happily live as an only dog - I am at the moment - and can be left on my own without issue. But I would also quite like to live with a canine friend so that would be fine too. I walk really really well on my lead and get on with all other breeds of dog. I am fine living with children and have spent time with a 2 year old, and we became great friends.

UPDATE
Theo came with us to a very large dog show yesterday and was absolutley fantastic. There were masses of dogs, including some really tiny puppies (as you can see from the photo) and he was a perfect gentleman. He really enjoyed his day.

Andy

Andy has to be a contender for one of the happiest dogs on the planet! He always has a smile on and his whole body wags in excitement to be out and doing things!

He was tied up outside a vets just before the Christmas period... luckily the vet took him in and looked after him until a rescue space could be found.

At just two and a half years old Andy is a very playful young man with bags of energy.

He is a very friendly young chap who gets on well with other dogs and simply loves human interaction.

Andy will form a very strong bond with his owner, that along with his love of cocktail sausages and a genuine desire to please will make him an easy candidate for training. Andy is crying out to be loved and he will repay you with complete devotion.

Andy is looking for an active home where he will be given the time and guidance to refine his lovely nature. He just needs someone to lay down some rules and help him to adhere to them.

Already house trained, he really will make a fantastic pet and companion in the right home.

Jock

Jock
Jock

Jock is a really lovely boy who, for whatever reason if fearful of strangers.

This can be overcome in time with treats. (We've found the preferred treat is cheese)

Jock would improve best in a calm environment, preferrably without young kids, not that he's aggressive but a busy household or noisy kids could be stressful for
him.
Jock does like the lady hounds and has always been kenneled with a girl, a home with a nice steady and confident girl would do him the world of good.

Jock is quite small for a male greyhound and he has this adorable "widows peak" more often seen on salukis... he really is a very pretty boy.

Jock is clean in his kennel and easy on a lead. He will be a loving/loyal dog once he has gained the trust of his new owner.

Jocks true personality will take time to show fully but once he comes out of his shell will prove to be very rewarding.

Tess

Tess
Tess
Tess

Please consider Tess. Tess is an 8 year old sweetheart... she was someones much loved pet for 5 years and her world was warm, cosy and loved... but then sadly Tess happy world was turned upside down when her owner died.

Tess found herself being uprooted and moved into rescue where she is very patiently waiting for someone to notice her and take her home.

Tess is adorable, she is such a sweet lady and no bother to walk, she likes to potter around, have a good sniff and then back to her comfy bed to sleep.

Tess was the only dog in her home and has got used to that life, she does find other dogs coming up to her quite intimidating and will have a growl at them to leave her alone. She does not go out of her way to be grumbly, she just wants a peaceful life so we are looking for an only dog home for Tess.

Tess is fine with children - in fact she quite likes them! but at her age she would rather have older calmer children - OR - she could cope with younger children if they were on grandchildren visiting basis!!!

If you can help Tess back into a loving home then please do get in touch - this lady breaks our hearts to leave in kennels again at the end of each day.

Sid

Sid
Sid
Sid

How handsome is this gorgeous boy? Sid came to us from an Irish pound where he was picked up as a stray in a pitiful condition. He was covered in mange and was a very very nervous boy; clearly whatever had happened to Sid in his past was not pleasant, and he had obviously suffered greatly.

Several months of rehab have worked wonders! Sid is now a shining gleaming example of how a lurcher should look, and is learning how to be a real happy-chappy.

Sid is in a foster home, and making huge progress - this is what his foster mum has to say......

"Sid had a bad start in life and needs a new home that can accept this but help him move on, with confidence, onto the chapter of his life.

It takes Sid a while to learn to trust people but when he does he will greet you with a wag of his tail and given his head to fuss. He spends most of his day asleep on the sofa and currently enjoys the company of a female springer spaniel and a male lurcher. He loves to play outside with the lurcher and is now initiating play himself. He also really enjoyed an off lead play with the lurcher and a female greyhound at our recent greyhound playgroup. He would need a home with confident dogs as he finds being on his own a little difficult. He is happy to be left with his dog friends for up to four hours a day.

Sid gets on well with older children and has formed a strong bond with my 9 year old boy who he happily takes treats from and loves to be groomed by him.

He is learning to respond to his name and is rewarded with a treat whenever he comes. However as he is known as Sid, Siddy, Siddy Bidders and Bidders he has had to learn that all these names mean him!
Sid is happy to go out for his two walks a day as long as he has a warm coat to wear. He walks very nicely on the lead but needs careful introductions to new dogs. He is fearful of them at first but after being given time to settle down he can walk with all different breeds. This is a work in progress and would need to be continued so that he doesn't see all dogs as a threat to him. He is not cat friendly".

Meet Wesley. This handsome boy is five-years-old and according to his foster mum, is never without a glint of cheeky mischief in his eyes! Wesley loves playing with his toys, and occasionally carrying his duvet around. He has settled really well into living in a home and sleeps like a log through the night. Wesley is affectionate, a pleasure to walk, good with other dogs and a very quick learner too. He will do absolutely anything for chicken or liver treats, and is learning new commands really quickly. If he’s had a nice walk first, Wesley is quite happy to snooze away for three–four hours on his own. We think he would live happily as an only dog or with existing canine companions.

Chris..aka Rodney!

Chris..aka Rodney!
Chris..aka Rodney!
Chris..aka Rodney!

Chris is affectionately known as Rodney!!

Rodney is a 5 year old greyhound who has raced over 100 races so has well earnt his retirement.

He is just gorgeous - look at his daft ears and lolling tounge - how can you not fall in love.

Rodney is a very happy boy and he loves life, people, balls, walks and being a greyhound he loves a nice long snooze in the grass!

Rodney moved into a foster home and WOW!! what a super boy - just read this wonderful foster home update..
Rodney has been with us for nearly three weeks now and has settled down very nicely. Linda has been raking out his kennel coat and his coat is starting to look more sleek and glossy. We feel he will look stunning when he has lost the last of his fluffy insulation fur.

He walks perfectly on the lead alone or with Daisy, they got along well from the first day. We have tested him in busy high street conditions and he's fine. People, other dogs large and small and children are no problem for him although, like almost all greyhounds he can be put off momentarily by large vehicles (vans/trucks) passing closely.

We have taken him on four street collections and in every case his behaviour was very good. He made friends with everyone, particularly children, even the very youngest. Everyone who met him loved him.

He has adapted beautifully to domestic life, from the very first morning we have never found any soiling in the house. He has become completely chilled out, sleeping deeply, running and occasional stifled barking in his sleep which is a good indication that he feels completely relaxed in his surroundings. He's a fast learner and knows the meaning of "NO" and in general responds to simple commands. We think he's grown out of his clueless "plonker" phase but we love the name Rodney and he responds to it.

He loves toys and spends a lot of time playing with Daisy's dollies. Occasionally soft things get picked up and moved to another room but with no damage.

We take him and Daisy to an enclosed field where they can both walk off lead. He tends to be more attached to us than Daisy and will only go about 30m before returning, in fact we think he has taught Daisy to stay closer to us.

Beanie is back with us having spent the last two years in a very caring home. His owners really love him but were unable to cope with his stress when they were not around and felt the kindest option was to ask us to rehome him.

Beanie is a very handsome and friendly dog and seemed very laid back when walked recently with one of our other kennel dogs.

We think he would be best in a home with no children and possibly with another dog for company.

Could you give this lovely boy a second chance? Please contact us as soon as possible if you can as he really would prefer to be in a home again.

Zico
Zico

Zico is a super, stunning, head turning mainly Saluki lad, Zico is about 12 - 18 months old.

Zico is full full full of fun and life and bounce and play, he plays and bafoons around endlessly! He loves other dogs and wants to play with everyone, being a young male he can get rather full on and boisterous not for the faint hearted pooch! Zico is only young though and just hasnt had the boundaries in his life... with a strong confident dog he is soon told Oi - pack it in... and Zico will respect this and back off.... until he forgets with his 5 minute memory and comes bounding back - wanna play!!!!!

There is no malice whatsoever in this fun lad, he is adorable and loves a cuddle and fuss.

Zico needs a home where he will have company most of the time, he doesnt like to be left - or at least feel left out!! Zico is being crate trained at the moment and this does help him settle down and relax.

Zico is basically a young, fun and playful dog and he is just looking for the right home to embrace and guide him - it would be a sin to try and squash him.

Please get in touch with your details for Zico.

Luca - IN FOSTER

Luca - IN FOSTER

Luca is a laid back gentleman of nearly 9 years, with kind eyes and a gorgeous dark glossy coat that belies his age.

He inspires respect, admiration and love.

Luca has lived in a home for over 5 years and is used to being the only dog. He can be left on his own for a few hours without issue and is calm and laid back in the house, he is also easy to walk.

Luca would prefer to be the only dog in the house and needs a calm and quiet retirement home now. He fully deserves a warm berth in a loving home, where he can call a quiet corner his own.

Dino

Dino
Dino
Dino

Dino is a loveable brindle lurcher of three-years-old. He’s a very happy boy who loves to play and will do anything for a cuddle and a bit of ham! Dino had a go at agility at the weekend and picked it up very quickly. He also loves to flop out on the sofa, especially if he can sneak his front paws and head onto your lap, or turn upside-down to have his tummy tickled. We think that Dino would be ok either as an only dog or with other canine company, and we suspect he would be very happy to have some older children to play with in the garden.

Update 8/9/10

Poor Dino is still waiting for a home, he has so much love to give
please give him a chance he has been waiting far too long!

Sioux

Sioux
Sioux
Sioux

Don't you think she is beautiful?

We think she is a greyhound X staffie and what a gorgeous colour she is!
Sioux is looking for the right person to give her a cosy home for the rest of her life.
Poor Sioux has been badly abused in her early years. She is only 3 but she already knows that there are cruel people out there.

She has been with us for a while as she had lots of baggage to unpack, but over the last six months she has blossomed and become more and more loving and trusting. She would give all her love and trust to that one right person. Is it you?

Sioux cannot be homed with cats or small dogs but she would love to live with another medium or large laid back dog. Although she has never harmed a child we feel that she would be best in a home without children, as she would find the hustle and bustle too overwhelming.

She has lots of energy and would love a big garden and country walks and would be very happy living with one or two adults of her own who understand that occasionally there are things she can't cope with. Sioux tends to guard her home and her paddock against strangers but once she knows you she loves nothing better than a cuddle and a play.

Are you an experienced dog owner looking for a faithful companion? If so Sioux is the one for you!

Millie

Millie
Millie
Millie

Millie is a lovely girl, beautifully waggy and loves to say hello to everyone.

Today she walked, with me, from the garage, where our GRWE van was having its MOT, into the town and back again and was full of confidence despite the traffic and the local market in town which was fairly crowded with people.

Millie would prefer to be in a home with another dog for company and older children would be better than small ones. She has sadly just been returned to us as her owners felt she was having trouble coping with their young children and really needed some company.

Millie is three and a half years old, in beautiful condition and a fit girl. Can you offer her a permanent home where she can blossom even more?

Marcus has only just come to us after retiring from racing at 3 years old, he is a happy dog and we will be assessing him over the coming weeks.
Well what a handsome, happy boy Marcus is, he is full of fun and loves a cuddle. Marcus loves his walks and would suit somewhere with a large garden to stretch his legs.

Peggy was found with Stan (also looking for a home) after being tied up and abandoned.
She is a lovely lurcher girl, we think about 2 years old and she just loves everybody. She is very affectionate and can’t get enough cuddles and kisses.

She is quite keen when she sees wildlife out on walks but otherwise walks well on the lead and is good with other dogs, she will not be able to live with cats though.

This happy girl will brighten your days and make a wonderful new addition to your family.

Gaia

This gorgeous girl has come to us from a pound in Ireland where she was due to be put to sleep. She is just over 2 years old and has been used as a coursing dog.

She is a friendly, gentle girl, good with other dogs that she has met and loves all people. She hasn’t lived with children but there is no reason to think that would be a problem, especially older ones as she is quite a large girl.

She is very alert, especially in open spaces but walks well on the lead and does not pull.

As you can see from the photos Gaia is a stunning looking dog who will return your love tenfold.

Ray ** updated **

Ray is a lovely black greyhound lad who is hoping to find a home he can settle and relax in soon.

Ray only recently arrived in our care after a short racing career.

Ray is still settling in but so far has been a kind boy - he does get quite bouncy and excited to see new people but given time and consistency he will calm and relax.

Ray is looking for a loving home and would happily live with a greyhound bitch

******* UPDATE **********

written by Ray!

What an exciting morning I had, Linda came to the kennels today to take me for a walk, I was such a good boy first I met Amber and Dylan then got in the car with them to go to the walk, when we got to the walk I was so surprised to find 52 other greyhound and lurchers there, I had to wear a little coat but then realised it meant I was very special and lots of people were looking at me, my coat said please adopt me.
On the walk I met a few little dogs but didn’t take much notice I wanted to stay with all my big friends.
We had a group photo taken then I was taken to one side with 3 other greyhounds who were also looking for a new home, you can see me here
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/83....answorth_today/

now I do feel very special I got my photo in the paper.
After the walk I was ready to have a nice lay down in the car, I stood on Dylan and he had a grumble at me but I took no notice and just lay down.
When I got back to the kennel I heard Linda say, what a star he was……………does that mean I was a very good boy

Love Ray xx

______________________________

Ray was a star today, very good with Amber and Dylan especially not knowing them and having to share a space in the car.
He was very good with little dogs and didn’t take much notice, he did look and got very close to a puppy, he didn’t lunge or show and interest.
Ray does seem rather a sensitive boy, Kelli would know better as I have only met him today, he seems good with children as a lot of children came to look at his coat and gave him a cuddle, don’t think this super boy knows what a cuddle is but I am sure he will soon learn.
He walked very well on the lead only time he pulled was when everyone had gone out of sight and he wanted to catch them up.

Riley

Riley is a very charming eight year old greyhound with a very distinguished look about him. This wonderful gentleman is long overdue for his nice and comfy forever home.

Riley was born for home life, he is savouring every comfortable moment. He is a joy to take out walking, you hardly know he is on the end of the lead!

Riley is very placid, he is looking for a comfortable home where he can enjoy a quiet life and share some affection with his humans. He is a friendly chap, currently in a foster home which he share's with a very small dog, they get along fine.

He does enjoy a little game from time to time and it is a real joy to see him bouncing around grinning from ear to ear.

He would be fine around children but would not appreciate full on attention as he does like his own space sometimes, for this reason we would prefer a home without very young children.

He is the perfect house guest, well mannered, quiet, laid back - a lovely chilled out chap who will be a joy to own.

Marco

Marco

Hi all

I am about 3 years old and a dot really, probably a whippet X with some terrier in there for good measure. I am only around 22" at the shoulder, so a really easy size. As you can see, I really do adore a cuddle and some attention too. I also have some lovely black through my coat which makes me look very striking!

I came from a pound in the NE but I have proven myself to be a really genuine little dog, with a great love of affection and very responsive to kindness.

It is likely that I have worked in my previous life but I have shown signs of being cat trainable, so with sensible intro's and careful owners, I may be able to live with cats. I really am a gentle soul, easy-going, good natured and such a nice little lad, you couldn't help but love me.

I am easy to fit on a sofa, in the car and would slot in between any humans on thier bed too, if I was allowed :) I think a home with someone to play with me would be nice but also some humans that will just adore me for the lovely chap that I am. Another dog to play with would also be great, as I adore other dogs!

Jackson

Jackson
Jackson
Jackson

A four year old black male, Jackson has a truly wonderful nature. He has only just retired and has come to us in super condition, he has a lovely gloss black coat and gleaming white teeth to compliment his Hollywood looks.

An extremely handsome young man, he will get you plenty of admiring glances whilst out and about.

Jackson is a playful chap who enjoys interaction with both humans and other hounds, although he will need a controlled introduction to smaller dogs in the early days, but this will improve quickly once he is properly socialized.

Jackson is very well behaved and a dream to walk on the lead.

This young man does not belong in the kennels, he really is going to make a fantastic pet. So, if you are in the South East, why not meet us for a walk, I guarantee you'll fall in love with him.

He was due to be put to sleep following a racing injury but luckily he was saved and then came into our care. You may remember he was helped by one of our medical appeals and has made enormous progress.

He has lived in a foster home with other sight hounds but he will need time and understanding when introducing him to other breeds and he cannot live with cats. He loves people and is a very affectionate boy, enjoying cuddles and lots of attention.

This lovely, gentle boy is only 2 years old and has already been through so much; if you are an experienced sight hound owner and feel you could give him a chance of a happy life then please get in touch.
