Sponsored events
Many people ask if they can do a sponsored event for us and we are of course delighted. It is so easy to do - by far the easiest is to set up a JustGiving page which you can tailor to your event. You then email your event to all your friends and contacts, track your fundraising progress and can give updates. It evens collects GiftAid on donations from UK taxpayers, adding an extra 28p for every pound they donate to your fundraising campaign, raising even more money for our hounds!
Don't forget - YOU CAN DO IT TOO!
Just email enquiries@grwe.com if you are in need of ideas or have a sponsored event planned. Good Luck everyone!
May 2010
Deep River Rock Belfast Marath
03/05/2010 - 03/10/2010
Belfast
Stuart Voaden is a great supporter of GRWE and has fostered dogs for us including Skippy who has come to us recently with quite serious injuries.
Stuart has not only just run the Deep River Rock Belfast Marathon Relay in aid of GRWE but he is now planning another marathon later in the year.
“I really enjoyed running the marathon for 'you lot'! It makes a real difference knowing that dogs like Skippy will get the specialist and expensive treatment they need.”
Please show your support for his amazing achievements, you can donate safely online by clicking the Just Giving icon above.

August 2010
German Ironman Triathlon
15/08/2010
Wiesbaden, Germany
This is officially ‘Challenge 2010 – For Greyhounds’; Maxine Knagg one of our PHS advisors is going to challenge herself physically, mentally and financially to be in shape. She has already completed the ‘Fred Whitton Challenge’; a gruelling 112m bike event which stupidly takes in the most severe climbs, mountain passes and fells across the Lake District.
Now onto the next challenge! On 15th August 2010, she will be swimming, cycling and running for all she is worth as part of team 'Reality Check' in the German 70.3 Ironman Triathlon (together with her partner Serge and Serge's boss Tim). They will be competing as a relay team to cover the 1.2mile open water swim through the waters of the River Rhine, a 56miles bike section around Wiesbaden, culminating in a half marathon around the city centre.
Why you ask – well I am sure you all know and understand exactly why!
They want to raise some much needed funds for GRWE to ensure the charity can continue the incredible work that they carry out year on year, and show support for what they consider to be a well organised and caring charity that without the donations, offers of help and freely given time of many volunteers many more hounds would certainly be in a worse off place than they are today. They want,as you do, to be able to help more of those hounds out there, still waiting to get their much deserved happy, and forever homes and if that takes a bit of sweat, effort and no doubt endless grunting and groaning (you know who you are!!) then that’s what they will do.
We do hope you will consider helping them along the way, and help them to generate a handsome sum of money for the incredible hounds still waiting. Please click on the green and blue JustGiving logo at the top right of this page to support us on line. Thank you.

April 2011
Brighton Marathon
10/04/2011 - 11/04/2011
Brighton
On April 10 2011 I'll be running in the second Brighton marathon in aid of GRWE. I plan to raise over £500.
I have a lurcher myself that came over from Ireland as a stray and realise the problems the recession has created for animal charities and would like to try and raise as much money to help as possible.
Please visit my JustGiving page to sponsor me and help raise vital funds for GRWE's work to rescue abused and abaondoned greyhounds and lurchers.
