This wonderful social event kicks off the year for the Somerset team and is loved by all. This is a rare chance to see a hall full of a variety of sighthounds all chilling and being social. It is a great time to get together with like minded people and have a chat and swap stories.
This event is also great for new owners, a chance for your dog to be with other hounds and to find out what GRWE is all about. If you are thinking of having a sighthound then this is one of many great events throughout the year that gives you the opportunity to do so.
The full range of merchandise will be available and we will also be having a raffle.
Refreshments available including Jacket Potatoes and the usual range of scrummy cakes

Malvern Common Walk

Malvern Hills,
The Malvern Hills, beautifull and majestic so why not come and join us for a gentle walk around this beautiful area. A new area for GRWE hounds to explore so we thought we would start with Malvern Common with the Hills being slightly too hilly for a few of us!
10.30am for a prompt 11.00am start we,ll be meeting at the bottom car park on Peachfield Road, the walk being about 40 minutes on the flat, in front of the College grounds. Then on to The Bluebell, being only a couple of minutes away by car, for a get together and the raffle.
Easy to find, here are the directions to the Common:-
Take the main A449 Wells Road from Malvern Town centre heading out towards Ledbury, then turn left at The Railway Inn (Lower Wyche) at the T junction, and down to the furthest car park on the left (by the goalposts), just before the railway bridge. Post code WR14 4AL for Satnavs.
Don't worry if you don't know where The Bluebell is, just follow one of us!
All dogs to be kept on the lead and if neccessary, please scoop that poop!

GRWE will be attending the 5th Greyhound Walks Show, and we’d love it if you could join us on this very special day.
Each and every year, the show gets bigger and better. The Greyhound Walks Show 2011 was a massive success and exceeded all expectations. Throughout the day they had over 1200 visitors, and made over £6000 for both Greyhound Walks and other charities – amazing! GRWE were there last last year and would certainly agree: we had a really spectacular day.
The showground at Great Notley Country Park is around 4 acres, which gives plenty of space to bring fabulous events and stalls. This year will see the launch of the Greyhound Walks Village – a bit like the Olympic Village, but better ... and cheaper!
The car park is adjacent to the showground, with space for around 800 cars.
As before, the Greyhound and Lurcher judging will be run as a fun show. In addition, and in a separate judging ring, we’ll be running a Fun Dog show for all other breeds of dog.
The country park is owned and operated by the Council, and therefore Pay and Display parking will be in operation. At present the charge is £3.00 for the day.
This year they are also running a Grand Raffle with some great prizes on offer, including a £250 cash prize, a holiday home for a week, clay pigeon shooting experience, a guided group tour of Aldwych Station and many more prizes. You can buy tickets in advance at our walks, or, you can buy them on the day. They are just £1 each !

Fun Weekend at The Bluebell

Looking for something different to do this weeknd? Why not come along to The Bluebell pub in Malvern for a weekend fun and games. GRWE volunteers and thier hounds will be helping Mark and Sarah Cuddy, landlords of this delightful pub, host this fun day with ALL funds raised going to GRWE. The day will be full of games, stalls, demonstrations, live entertainment & displays.
So why not come along and enjoy the day, there is good food served all day and as The Bluebell is dog friendly, both inside and out, you and your well behaved hound will be most welcome!

GRWE has a stand at this International Horse Trials which of course is a hugely popular event.

Dinmore Woods Walk

Queenswood Arboretum
Queenswood Arboretum looks lovely at this time of the year, so come and join us for a walk around these lovely woods. We'll meet 10.30 for a prompt 11.00am start, walks are easy and take about 40 minutes.
All dogs welcome on the lead and this is a great opportunity for your dog to meet other hounds if they don't normally get the chance.
After join us at the cafe for a 'get together' and raffle. The cafe does a really good breakfast if you would like to treat yourself either before the walk or for brunch afterwards.
Hopefully we'll have warm sunshine but best bring the mac just incase!

Eastern Region Annual Dog Show

This year our Dog Show is again at the rear of the Cross Keys Pub in Pulloxhill. There will be 3 Rings -
Ring 1 - for All Breeds
Ring 2 - for Greyhounds & Whippets
Ring 3 - for Lurchers
This year we intend to have a short lunch break so that you can look around the many stalls and also visit our Merchandise Stall. We are expanding our Refreshments to cover cold drinks and sandwiches as well as the hot drinks and barbecue.
An extra item this year is a 'Silent Auction' which we hope will be well supported.
If anyone has any new and unwanted items which could go into the Auction please get in touch.
The Gate opens at 10am and Judging commerces at 11am.
Free Admission and free parking. Classes cost £3 on the day or £2 if you use pre-registration.

Malvern Hills Walk

Malvern
The Malvern Hills, beautifull and majestic so why not come and join us for a gentle walk around this beautiful area. A new area for GRWE hounds to explore so we thought we would start with Malvern Common with the Hills being slightly too hilly for a few of us!
10.30am for a prompt 11.00am start we,ll be meeting at the bottom car park on Peachfield Road, the walk being about 40 minutes on the flat, in front of the College grounds. Then on to The Bluebell, being only a couple of minutes away by car, for a get together and the raffle.
Easy to find, here are the directions to the Common:-
Take the main A449 Wells Road from Malvern Town centre heading out towards Ledbury, then turn left at The Railway Inn (Lower Wyche) at the T junction, and down to the furthest car park on the left (by the goalposts), just before the railway bridge. Post code WR14 4AL for Satnavs.
Don't worry if you don't know where The Bluebell is, just follow one of us!
All dogs to be kept on the lead and if neccessary, please scoop that poop!

The Bluebell Pub Malvern
Looking for something different to do on a Halloween Saturday night and fancy dressing up in some goulish fashion? Well, The Bluebell Pub is hosting a Fun evening with all funds raised going to GRWE. The evening starts at 7.30pm with the very popular Quiz, prize being a bottle of champers, followed by live music from 8.30pm. There will be a raffle with some good prizes including Theatre tickets, Bluebell meal for 4, fruit basket, wine etc There will be prizes for the best over 18 fancy dress and prizes for the best under 18 fancy dress not to mention prizes for the best fancy four legged dress! The pub will be dressed out in halloween fashion and there will be some games such as Apple Bobbing & Children's Lucky Dip. 'Ghoulish cocktail' for everyone who comes along in Fancy Dress!
The Bluebell is a hound friendly pub, the food, beers,wines and hospitality are great so why not come along, enjoy a great evening knowing that it's all for a good cause!
